Rahya Geisler:
Chairman of the Board of Directors
Rahya works with MN DOT as the NE Regional Towards Zero Deaths Director. She has volunteered and worked with survivors of domestic violence for the last 25 years. She started her journey working with children living in domestic violence homes and continued her time working with women and sexual assault survivors.
Rahya had the great honor of working with Roxie since 2007 when she became the new director of The Refuge Network. Roxie quickly became the greatest mentor, friend and family to her and her family. Rahya worked alongside Roxie to open the doors of the first women and children’s shelter for domestic violence in East Central MN.
Black Dog Hill Shelter is Roxie’s greatest legacy in the Domestic Violence world! She continued to work with Roxie for over 7 years. After changing careers she still volunteered with Roxie and spent family time together.
She had this overwhelming drive to do something in her name, in her honor, on her behalf, to continue her legacy. Together with Trisha, Roxie’s daughter, the idea of starting a non-profit in her memory began to form.
“Roxie has guided us to start this mission and will continue to guide us in our journey to help survivors of domestic violence”.
